The back is a very important part of the body that sometimes we just can’t seem to reach. Focusing on the back specifically helps to relax the whole body, calming the nervous system through the spinal column and relaxing the tension of the organs. There is also a focus on the region of the neck to relieve mental strain relating to the spinal column.  A hot towel is used to stimulate the spine, and hot stones are placed in areas of tension during the session.

Ashiatsu is a Western adaptation of Asian barefoot Massage. This massage is done with the heel and instep of the foot, and sometimes the toes. The technique focuses mostly on the posterior muscles, as the therapist holds onto the parallel bars above her head for balance and pressure control. Oils and lotion are applied to the body, and soft, clean, bare feet give a rhythmic and deep massage. It is performed on a massage table with a face cradle. The feet are used in line with standard Western massage fundamentals and anatomy. The pressure you are able to deliver with your feet is greater and less painful at the same time.
